With no further postponing... I present to you life hacks to make your life easier! Note these are not all decor related but are some of my favorite ways to make my life easier as a working mom.
1. Hard boiled egg perfection
Have you ever been able to master the ability to peel a hard boiled egg without peeling half the egg white with it? I've almost mastered it myself but still half the time the shells don't come off clean. And who has time to meticulously feel all that shell off? As a working mom I sure don't. I came across this ingenious product at Bed Bath & Beyond! You crack the raw egg into the molds and boil them , it's so easy to pop out the egg! Take a look! We recently took a road trip and I brought a couple of them in their pods and some spoons and we ate them right out of the "shell"! Saved us time and money going through the drive thru!
2. More vitamin C
Want to prevent further colds from attacking as best you can?! Need more vitamin C in your diet? No problem. You drink water all day right? 6-8 cups is the daily recommendation so why not add lemon or grapefruit to it? Just simply freeze your citrus, then grate some up and place in the bottom of your water mug. It's ok if you get some in your sips, but if your not a fan of the added texture, drop some lemon essential oil in your water.

3. Bookcase makeover
Do you have a tired old bookcase that functions perfectly but just needs a makeover? Buy 1 roll of your favorite wallpaper, and 1 gallon of paint. My favorite wallpaper sources are here... Wayfair, LenArte , Phillip Jeffries, and Spoonflower.
If you want more of a natural wood look check out Stikwood! Explore them here.
4. Crust-less toast
As a mom of two young kids I am constantly finding fun ways to present food and make their little particulars more easy for me. I found this fun bread cut out online, and by the way, there are so many out there! I just press down once and stamp a cute little animal face ( sometimes), and the crust is gone and they have a cute little animal sandwich they ask for again and again!
5. EO storage
Are you an essential oil fan like myself? I learned through a family member how poisonous and dangerous fragrances are. If you are allergic can cause serious debilitating migraines, nauseau and more! With our bodies being the biggest organ and everything we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies I stopped using fragrance products five years ago! I love my essential oils for their magnificent scents but also for their medicinal and health effects. Everyone's favorites and routines are different, and there are different companies. But my favorite is Young Living, I know their oils are pure, high quality, and have no additives! Beware some oils have additives to make the smell more appealing, kind of defeats the purpose, but that's the world we live in now.
I'm still discovering the infinite oils available and their benefits, but my favorites and how I use them are as follows.
Thieves. The #1 oil I use every day with a roll on applicator. It is a germ killer and guard. It is also what I clean my house with instead of the harsh chemicals (except for the toilet) . It's safe, and a natural disinfectant. It is a proprietary blend so if you search it that is why Young Living will come up. I apply it to my neck, and my baby girls' feet.
RC. Is also a proprietary blend, and is my favorite scent of all! It contains Eucalyptus and relieves congestion and aids breathing and reminds me of Burke Williams. It is so relaxing and earthy and so beneficial. I diffuse it in my diffuser, rub it on our chests when we have a cold, mix it in my lotion for a more spa like experience at home. Who doesn't like that?
Some other of my favorites are lemon to drink in my water, Melrose with Jojoba for my dry spots on my face, and Purification for the stinky applications like armpits, and shoes. And I will spare you the rest of my boring and passionate banter. Take a look at the picture below to see the shorthand of how I use my slowly growing collection.
The hack is the shelving itself. I saw this in a long version online and had my dad build some in a hexagon shape instead. They turned out great and I love them! Click here to purchase yours.
6. Fruit and veggie wash
We love fruits and veggies in our house. Our favorites are strawberries, grapes, and broccoli. I have broccoli and strawberries growing in our garden and can't wait for the plentiful harvest! With so many chemicals in our farming industry as well, I am more careful to thoroughly wash our produce we buy at the store! I don't blame them, I mean they should stop, but gardening for so many is hard and I understand the quantity demand and the challenges that come with it. So I hedge our family against the chemicals as best as I can by growing our own in our garden. But ours have yet to yield the amount our family demands, so I use Young Living's fruit and veggies wash. It's super simple to add a little to the water and let them soak for a minute and then rub them clean. They taste so much more fresh than just rinsing and I have the peace of mind I've cleaned as much as I can off. The hack here is do the whole batch at once, let dry thoroughly, then repack in zip lock bags and grab and snack!
You can buy yours here, along with many other chemical free products and essential oils.
7. No more tangles
My daughter has the most beautiful curls, must've got them from my mom's side, but they tangle up into a crazy mess. It was such a fight to brush her hair because it hurt so much. I used No More Tangles by Johnson and Johnson, unhappy with the knowledge it was filled with chemicals, until I found Monat child's leave in conditioner. This safe non toxic product worked even better! Her curls were so easy to comb out and they remain silky and untangled for days!
Talk to my gal Lauren Aslanian. My hair is loving this stuff and more too! Order here!
